Following on from our performance at Prestfelde of the Greatest Show Man. Yesterday our students participated in the performance at the Oakengates Theatre. They performed in front of a very large audience and did the school proud.

They are from SLD and MLD groups and range in age from Lower to Sixth Form. Students have been rehearsing the routine during their lunch times on Wednesday and Thursdays and have worked incredibly hard to produce an amazing performance of such a high standard.

The music was chosen from the popular musical The Greatest Showman “The Greatest Show” for the dance. Their lively piece explores the relationship between sounds and actions whilst demonstrating the enjoyment they feel when listening to a favourite piece of music. The variation in the music allowed them to express themselves freely and imagine they were performing in The Greatest Show!  All the time, effort and hard work was worth every second just to see their proud faces when they finished the routine and look up at all the faces in the audience clapping and cheering for them.

Quotes from the students and parents after the event

” I was dancing freestyle on stage and I said thank you and they just cheered”

“I was scared at first it was so loud but then i enjoyed myself and felt really proud.”

“Once again we were blown away by the joy our students bring to others. Their enthusiasm for dance and movement is infectious”.
