An amazing week was had by all we have seen students from 29 schools and colleges across Shropshire joining in over 145 activities including Makaton sessions, hearing and visual impairment workshops, sensory play, dance, choir, band, forest schools, drawing and glass fusion workshops to name a few. We have also had sporting events from football tournaments to wheelchair basketball.
Parents have also joined us for various workshops including ICT, communication through music, intensive interaction, employability, Makaton, positively managing behaviour and learning through play. All of which have been delivered either by our own staff or our partners whom we work with on regular basis to support the pupils development and learning.
We ended the week with a celebration ceremony, kindly opened by our Principal Sabrina Hobbs and Eric Smith from BBC Radio Shropshire. This was a culmination of all the hard work that both visiting students and our students have put in all week together and we’d like to carry this on in to the future. Continuing our links with our community and partners is an important part of Severndale, from the success of the week we know that everyone who joined in felt the same.
“Lovely day meeting new people. Just goes to show what can be achieved working together!”
“I really enjoyed working with children I wouldn’t usually interact with and staff were lovely”
